For CAN Madrid, Soho Revue has chosen to highlight five female artists to represent our avant-garde programme which champions the next generation of emerging artists. Seeking to explore concepts surrounding the strength of the feminine pastoral, and the search for ease within oneself, scenes from Kyung Soon-Park’s figurative renditions of women resting in a natural landscape defined by vibrant colour are echoed in the work of Imogen Allen’s insect wings which flutter and blur the canvas in sunset hues. Seeping into the concept of landscape as divinely feminine still, Anna Ortiz arid scenes create a sense of stillness, setting the stage for contemplation, whilst Fiona Finnegan and Drea Cofield merge glimpses of womanhood, pleasure, and an essence of being still and unobserved in their respective surroundings.
